Superpowers

What are your favorite power groupings? Individual powers?

Do you favor heroes having weaknesses or not?

What weaknesses would you like to see in a supers game?

  1. I've always been a blaster-type. But I'm also a big fan or the movement stuff. Favorites for me are like Gambit, Havok and Nightcrawler.

I love weaknesses with powers because they keep supers games from being god-games.
I'd say weaknesses to particular energy types is a good one. Also, weaknesses don't have to be common, but they shouldn't be ultra-rare. You should have to worry about them actually coming up from time to time, otherwise they're pointless. And one of the more fun things is trying to figure out how to beat the villain when he KNOWS what to do to mess you up! IMHO. :)

  2. Blasters are one of my favorite character types also.

For weaknesses I'm thinking that beyond a cetain point of power there is a rising scale of weakness.

    For example
    Power Weakness
    1 -
    2 -
    3 -
    4 1
    5 1
    6 2
    7 2
    8 3
    9 4
    10 5

  3. With immunity to one's own energy type, yes?

  4. Immunity to one's own power yes. Energy type no.

That may roll into a Metemophosis Type of thin...Jonny Storm is immune to Fire when he's on fire but not when he's in "normal" mode.

The only energy immunity to own type that I can think of is Cyclops and Havoc...but being brothers its a story thing. Cyclops isn't immune to other eyebeams or energy blasts.

  5. I didn't mean...actually, i guess I meant immune to the same type of energy as their own blasts. Wouldn't make sense for Iceman to be affected by another ice-blast, IMO.

  6. Well a full body transformation is going to have some other benefits than just looking cool.

Ice man may take damage from another ICe blast, but only the physical part, he would be unaffecte4d by the cold.

One of the things I'm trying to math-out is secondary damage and effects. Like an Ice blast that also slows or freezes would do less damage but have that secondary effect. I', also trying to calculate how to figure in mixed damage types.

In the game there are 3 kinds of damage "blunt, sharp, elemental" Blunt can be absorbed naturally by humans (to a point), Sharp cannot. Elemental can be reduced a tiny amount by normal humans. Armor does 3 things for a player...absorbs some damage, alters the type of damage (generally from sharp to blunt in a limited amount), and slows you down.

After that explanation...there should be a simple way of allowing a player who shoots electricity (elemental damage) to take the same character frame work and refluff it to be an ice guy. Ice shards fly out of his hand (partial shapr/elemental damages). In this case A bodymorph like Iceman would be immune to the elemental portion of damage, and having Ice Armor would ignore most of the sharp damage.
